We love playdough at our house. I kinda have an addiction on making different scented playdough for my children.
A couple of weeks ago, we made candy cane edible playdough and my daughter had fun working on number recognition with the free candy cane playdough mats.
This week we decided we needed to have some sensory play with gingerbread playdough.
How to Make Playdough: Gingerbread Recipe
- 2 c of flour
- 1 c of salt
- 1 T of ground ginger
- 2 T of ground cinnamon
- 2 T of vegetable oil
- 1 c of water
Mix together and knead until dough consistency.
My children had so much fun with the gingerbread playdough that they decided to make more for little gifts for their cousins and friends. We just placed a ball of playdough in a baggie, tied a ribbon around it, and added a cookie cutter that we purchased at the dollar store.
They also want to make some for their Sunday School teachers.
It’s an activity that keeps them busy while I am filling out Christmas cards or working on my Christmas planner.
Who do you plan on making this easy playdough gingerbread recipe for?
How do you store this?
In a zip locked bag.
Can you freeze it? And if so how long
Hi Petra,
I have never tried freezing it, but it lasts a few months if your make sure you ziplock it.
Thank you. Made a batch this morning for my granddaughter. I think she will love it. I put it in a tightly sealed gingerbread man plastic container, and tied to the top, a plastic rolling pin and a gingerbread cookie cutter. I am probably going to include a copy of Jan Brett’s Gingerbread Baby.
