Teaching students to read is one of the greatest joys of any teaching or homeschool parent.
Teaching and mastering all the consonant blend sounds is so important before moving on to more difficult phonic skills.  I created these phonetic blend charts for my kindergartner who needed some extra practice with his blends. Now I use these consonant blends in my own public classroom. These are especially helpful for my ESL students.
I colored coated the vowels in case you wanted to cut them up into flashcards instead of leaving them as charts. Â I laminated all the cards and placed them in a silver ring in random order. Â After the student has mastered each blend chart, I remove the specific chart from the stack on the ring.

Has your child mastered the phonetic blend sounds yet?
Thank you for posting these! I just printed them out for my K-4 curriculum. This is our first year homeschooling. Wish us luck! These will be a great help! đ
Just an FYI- these are not consonant blends. They are open syllables. Consonant blends are 2 or more consonants that make their own sound such as cl, st, sp, tr, pl, str, nt, etc.

Great foundation for teaching consonants with vowels. My daughter is already reading 3 letter words by using these consonant/vowel combinations. Thank you!
I’m so happy to hear that, Elizabeth. Thank you for the update.
Thanks
Thanks for sharing. Can’t wait to download the charts!
Thanks for sharing these. I know someone mentioned they aren’t consonant blends. I taught kindergarten for 3 years as a public school teacher before I started homeschooling my now 7 children. I never could keep the actual names of blends, diagraphs, dipthongs or any of those names straight and I realized one day it didn’t matter. What matters is teaching the sounds they made together! Because let’s face it, the rules of English are insane and there is always an exception to any rule anywho! These will be very handy to my son who is a struggling reader. Thanks so much for these wonderful resources!
I am so glad you like them. I agree, who cares what they are called, as long as they bless the student. Thank you for your kind words.

You are awesome and amazing!!!! Thank you and God bless you!!!!
Thanks for these! I printed these out for my 2-year old who is ready to start blending. I printed out 2 copies- one I put in a page protectors. The second I laminated and cut up the squares. I told him it was a matching game, and he LOVED them! I made him read the blend and find its match. I also asked him for each blend when he was done, so it was as if he played each mat twice! By the next day, he was trying to sound out words in a book! Success!
May I ask what font you used for this wonderful resource? I noticed after downloading, printing, and laminating my set that the letter ‘p’ was missing from all of these- pa, pe, pi, po, pu. Thought I could just make one page myself but would really like for the font to match if possible. Thank you for sharing your fantastic resource!
Looking forward to using these with my son who has a speech issue, I know these will help me a lot. Can’t wait to start! THANKS
I keep entering my email address but it states ‘invalid’; however, that is my email address. I’ve used both my work and personal but neither works đ I’d love these in my classroom.
It is a wonderful phonics source. Thank you so much.
Hi,
Thanks for the phonics cards, but the download that I was sent isn’t useful. All of the letters have circles in different areas on the letters. I am looking for a clean font, like the one in the picture. Could you please send me the link to the download with the font that’s the same as the one in the photo? Thanks, so much!
Warmest blessings! đ
Thank you so much. This is a very big help.
God bless you Miss Jill. =)
p.s
I think it needs updating (there’s no “que” “vo” “yo” and “zo”)
Thank you so much for the phonics cards ! I got them for my grandson as he is having some difficulty.
God Bless you.
Thanks for making this. As a kindergarten teacher we do not use the fonts that you used for this, in that, the letters don’t look “right” for what we teach. Also, I know it is difficult to remember all the names for the letter combinations, however, they are called what they are for a reason and there are rules for why words are spelled the way they are and there really is no “exception” as someone stated earlier. Our words come from a variety of languages and when we learn the root and origin of the words then they all make perfect sense.
These are great! I’ve tried everything and can’t figure out how to download. What am I doing wrong? Thanks
