My children had so much fun with the Valentine’s and St. Patrick’s Day play dough, that I couldn’t deny them something festive for Easter.

Be sure to have your children help you make this easy smelly play dough. Kneading is a wonderful sensory activity. It’s relaxing to me. I let each child have a ball to knead.

DIY Smelly Play Dough Recipe! Super EASY!

Carrot Cake DIY Smelly Play Dough

  • 1 box of carrot cake mix
  • 2-4 c of flour
  • 1 1/2 c of salt (use the cheapest kind)
  • 2T of Cream of Tarter
  • 6 T of oil
  • 3 c of water
  • red and yellow food coloring

Place all ingredients except 2 c of flour and food coloring in a medium sauce pan. Heat on medium until mixture congeals by folding the dough in pan. Once congealed into a dough substance, fold in the food coloring until mixed throughly. Depending on the humidity, you might need to add a bit more flour. Place playdo on wax paper to cool. Knead until proper consistency.
