I have been making this EASY homemade all-purpose cleaner recipe for at least 6 years. It works like a charm!
I have trained all my children on how to make this super easy homemade all purpose cleaner recipe. It’s that easy!
And it totally fits into our simple budget.
Don’t worry about the vinegar smell because it evaporates within seconds. I have to admit, it did take a few days for the kids to get used to the smell, but now they don’t think anything is clean unless they can smell the distinct all-purpose cleaner scent.
How to Make the BEST DIY Homemade All-Purpose Cleaner Recipe
What you need:
- 1 spray bottle
- White vinegar
- 1 t of dish soap
- 3 drops of Tea Tree Oil
How to Make it:
Pour the vinegar half way full into your spray bottle, next put the 3 drops of tea tree oil into bottle, fill the rest of the bottle with water. Next, put 1 t of dish soap into the spray bottle. Shake vigorously. Start cleaning!
Be careful not to put too much dish soap into the bottle because it will tend to make the cleaner sudsy. I have put scented oil in the spray to make it smell pretty, such as, rose or lemon oil, but it was just an extra step.
I am into simple and easy, so if I can delete a step, I am going to do it.

Have you ever made your own homemade all-purpose cleaner before? If so, are you addicted to?
I love the idea of making my own cleaner. Question though: can I omit the tea tree oil? I’m allergic to it!
The tree tea oil is known for its infection-reducing benefits. So yes, you can use something else if you wish, such as, Purification.
Or Thieves Oil in place of Tea Tree oil 🙂
Absolutely, thieves can be used. I started using Tea Tree Oils before I got reliant on YL oils. I just continued using Tea Tree Oil.
Where does one find Tea Tree Oil?
Hi Joan,
You can find Tea Tree Oil at any health store. It’s very versatile, so I don’t think you will have a hard time finding it.
[…] Laundry soap was so freeing and frugal that I also branched out to dish soap and an all-purpose cleaner. […]
I see this is all-purpose cleaner. But i must ask….what all do you use this on? I assume it is safe on granite and other countertops. What about mirrors? stainless appliances? sinks? etc.? Thanks so much! 🙂 Many blessings! 🙂
I use it on everything, however, I do not have granite. Most of the time, I just clean my mirrors with alcohol and water.

What is your dish wash soap ? What is t made from ?
I use Dawn.
For this recipe, I assume you are using a stand sized spray bottle, right? So, if i’m using a mini spray bottle, would you recommend I reduce the tea tree oil to maybe 1 drop and the dish soap to 1/2 tsp?
Yes, I wouldn’t worry so much about the tea tree oil, but the soap. You don’t want it soapy. HTH!
