If you are like me, there’s no better place than home. A home is where memories and traditions are created that last a lifetime.

It’s my favorite place to be.

Every home tells a story, and its scent can trigger compelling memories. I thoroughly enjoy just sitting on my couch with a candle burning while remembering the heavenly smell of my grandmother’s sugar cookies baking in her hot oven as a child.

Her sugar cookies were the bomb!

She is no longer with us on this side of heaven, but reminiscing about her brings her close to my heart. This is especially true during the holiday season.

Also growing up we had a real Christmas tree every year, and I always remember the piney aroma that filled the air in our home to remind me that Christmas was near. It’s a smell that I will always cherish. Christmas was a joyous time of year for our family. We always had a house filled with family and friends during that special day.

Of course, I want the same gift of reminiscing about home instilled in my children’s little hearts. I pray they will cherish their childhood as much as I do. It’s a true blessing to be able to reminisce about the people who were in your life that are no longer here. I believe that’s God’s special gift to us after someone departs from our lives.
