I’m a member of a gym, but sometimes I just can’t fit the time into my busy schedule to stop by the gym on my way home from teaching.
Being a single mom certainly doesn’t put me off the hook for not taking care of myself from a physical fitness standpoint, but I admit that there are some days I just want to go home and encourage my kids to eat a bowl of cereal for dinner while I veg with a book. Maybe I should rephrase that last statement and say…most days. Not some days!
I’m just being real!
My kids tend to motivate me when my gym days don’t work out for me.
At times, it’s fun for the kids to work out with me in the living room. They usually give up after the first 10 minutes, but it makes me feel energized to know that I’m instilling the importance of exercising on a daily basis into the mind of my little ones.
Sometimes I like to go for a walk in the neighborhood, but when the weather doesn’t permit, I love to have a variety of workout DVDs.
The key is…a variety.
Here are some workout DVDs that I own and a few on my wish list. I encourage you to read the reviews to see which ones are right for you. Some are harder workouts than others, but all will encourage healthy weight loss. All of these workout DVDs are popular on Amazon with great reviews.
P90 Base Kit DVD Workout – these DVD’s are not for whimps
Fe’ Fit Women’s Workout Program – All Skill Levels – 28 Workout Videos for Women

Pilates Complete for Weight Loss – this is an oldie, but goodie
10 Minute Solution: Workouts to Shape Up your whole body

Zumba Blitz Dance Workout DVD for Cardio Lovers – no need to worry about being uncoordinated in public.
There’s nothing worse than being bored with your workout. I know if it’s not FUN, I will have a tendency to skip my workout altogether.
I recommend working on the same DVD for a week and then switching off after you established your favorite ones. It’s always fun to have a variety especially if time is an issue.
What is one of your best workout DVDs that you enjoy? We would love more suggestions in the comments section.

My fitness program is martial arts training. It is a great whole body workout. I never get bored because the it changes as I progress through the different belt levels. I am learning amazing self-defense techniques. And it is so much fun!
I love Jillian’s 30 day shred and I will definitely check out some of your other recommednations too!
I use to use workout tapes all the time when I was younger but now that I am older, I have learned that just moving helps with weight loss and cutting back on calories.
I enjoyed reading about all of these.
These all sound so cool! Thanks for sharing.
Having knee problems makes it hard to work out to many of these videos, but I do what I can & enjoy it immensely. Thanks for sharing the top 10!
I was horrified last time I stepped on a scale – so thanks for the suggestions 🙂
I LOVE Leslie Sansone’s workouts! I always know I’ll get a good workout & there won’t be a high learning curve. Plus, it’s easy to adjust the intensity. I just discovered 10 Minute Prenatal Pilates during my pregnancy last year, and it was a lifesaver. I couldn’t do any cardio most of my pregnancy, but I could do 10 or 20 minutes of pilates. I’m looking forward to trying the regular 10 Minute Pilates now! Thank you for this list!
