Many parents need teaching advice about child protection!
Did you know each day, four children in the United States die from some form of abuse?
1 out of 4 girls and 1 out of 6 boys will have been molested by the time they are 18 years of age.
Did you know that most of this abuse begins before the child is 4 years old?
My heart breaks literally from typing those heinous statistics.
We must diligently educate and protect our children.
It starts in the home!
Some Parts are Not for Sharing is a little book about child protection that I strongly believe needs to be on every child’s book shelf.
This book is an ideal introduction to the basic body safety rules for the young child. The author, Julie K. Federico, uses friendly fish to explain what the boundaries of appropriate touching are in a very non-threatening way.
I have read, Some Parts are Not for Sharing, to my younger children ages 7, 5, and 2. We gently discussed what was defined as private areas and what to do if someone touches them in the those specific areas. My children loved the characters and found the book quite amusing.
This is a book that needs to be read to your child over and over. It would make a perfect birthday gift for the little ones in your lives or a perfect unique shower gift to the expectant mother.
This little soft-bound book can be purchased for 6.99. It’s truly a gem that just might protect the little child you love.
Do you have any advice for parents about child protection?

I received a copy of this book in exchange for my honest review. No other compensation was given.
I would use the book for my own boys and then pass it on to a friend when we were done using it!
I would love to win this book!
I would love to read this book to my niece, she is an amazing girl and cant imagine anything bad happening to her! awareness is the key to prevention
I would give it to my 6yo daughter. My biggest fear is not being able to protect her from a predator.
I would use it with my daughter.
After using it with my kids, I would lend it out to all other mom’s that I know!
I will definitely check this out for my kids and my nephews. We know about the book Safe Child but would love something like this for them!
This sounds like it would be a great book for my grandsons. I agree… kids need to be educated… sometimes it’s just too hard (or perhaps embarrassing) for some parents and a book like this would make it easier for the parents.
I’d love to win this book for my girls!

Sounds like a great book! I would love to win it!
I would read this book several times to my younger children, as they grow I would pass it on to friends with little ones.
If I won I’d be sure to share this book with my cousins and friends who all have small children as long as with my own babies.
If I won this book I would share it with my children. We have two biologicial children (5 yrs and 13 months) and one foster child. Our foster child is currently undergoing investigations to see if he was molested. He is two and half. I am currently living in the middle of those disgusting statistics you listed and I vow to never let my family be another stat! Thanks for passing this along!
I would give it to my 3 young children and read it over and over to them.
I’m definitely interested. It’s such an awful subject to introduce, and I’ve done it lightly here or there, but I want to make sure my kids get the message because I would love to protect them in this way. Thanks!
I would give it to my 3 kids!
I would love this! We have been talking about “tricky people” with our 4 year old. It’s a newer take on”Stranger Danger”. This would be helpful to tie into it. 🙂
I have 4 children under 6 and have thought about this issue so much, especially with my oldest starting school. I would definitely use it in my family.
I would read this to my kids. Our family is familiar with people who have suffered abuse, and we want to take every precaution.
Love this post! please please share this on my hop – I think more people need to know about this! (

I would have to keep it for my kids! Although I’d share it with all my friends, what a great book idea
I have been looking for something to help my children understand these boundaries. I have ages 6, 4 & 2 at home and it worries me knowing predators are nearer than I want to know. I would give this book to my children to help them learn!
So thankful that there’s something out there to help children of various ages understand this topic. I have twin boys and would use this for them.
This sounds like a great book and I’m very interested in sharing it with my kids. :”)
-Tina
I would share it with my kids.
If I won I would keep it for my 4 young children.
Thank you for sharing this! It is such an important topic to teach our children. Hope I win. After reading it to my children, I would donate it to a local library so more children and families could benefit from it for years to come.
This book would be for my kids. We have already talked to them about this topic, but having a book to read and know what to say would help so much.
It sounds like a good book for our library. My baby girl will need to know this as she gets older.
to my son who is 6 and my daughter who is 2
Thanks for the book.
IF I won I’d share the book with my 5 year old daughter and 3 year old son. So sad that we have to make them aware of things like this but better safe
It would go to my 3 children- the oldest is 6. This is important information to share with out children! I know a few men and many women- including myself that were victims of some sort of sexual abuse-they range from inappropriate touch to child rape. Teach your children how to respond, because you can’t be with them every moment- even other children can be the perpetrators! Sometimes I play a game with my children. I ask them personal safety questions like, ” What should you do if {insert things like a stranger offers you candy, a ride, someone tries to touch you in a place covered by your underwear, etc.}”. To keep it light I put in lighthearted questions like, “What should you do if Grandma asks you if you want to go to the park?” The answer is usually a big “YES!”.
I would give this book to my two little girls, 2 1/2 and 1 1/2. It’s never too early to talk about these things but sometimes it can be difficult to explain it to small children.
[…] Jill at Blessed Beyond A Doubt Shared this fabulous book that she calls A must for every child’s bookshelf! […]
This is a great idea for a learning book

My 3 children: 4, 4, and 6
My children are teenagers now, but I think this book would be wonderful for my niece & nephew . I am very concerned for them because their parents have tons of friends and they are often around many people where they aren’t always chaperoned. -I think if I got this book it would be a great story to read when they come over as I really worry about them and I’ve never been sure how to address this subject.
Great idea! Book would be for my 2 year old daughter.
If I won, I would keep it for myself to read to my children. My duaghters ages 5 and 2 and my son age 1
I’d read it to my own boys!
i would read this to my 9 months old baby girl every night for one of her bed time stories. this is such a good way to teach her about boundaries !
I would give it to my kids!
I’d give it to my kids
I would give this book to my beautiful, amazing, and perfect little boys. They are the light of my life and I spend every minute of everyday caring for the and keeping them safe!
I first would read this book to my 2-year-old daughter, Alexa. If I thought the language was simple enough, I’d quite possibly buy another copy (or several!) to give to my housekeeper and to various local charities that aim to help at-risk children. (Background: I live in Cambodia, where human trafficking, sex tourism, and child sex abuse is rampant.)
This is a wonderful idea to give as a gift to a close friend or a family member to read to their kids! 🙂 I’d love to give this as a gift to my best friend to read to her 4 year old.
I was abused as a child, so I’d buy this book for all the children in my two girls’ circle of friends. It would be great for us Mommies to discuss the book ourselves as well. I wish someone had read this to me when I was little.
I am a Special needs teacher with students ranging from all types of disabilities. I myself was also abused as a child and made it my goal to be a teacher for young minds and for those who are unable to protect themselves. If I received this book, I would use this as part of my curriculum and for my family when my husband and I do.
i would love to share this book with my 4 year old son and 2 year old daughter.
I would love to have this on my shelf for reading to my children!
I would read this to my two sons, 7 yrs old and 10 mths old.
I’d give it to my daughters (7,5).
If I won this book I would read it to my two beautiful girls
I would read it to my 6, 3 and 2 year old kids
I would read it to my kids
The statistics regarding abuse for children are just so heart breaking. I believe in educating our children so if they are ever faced with such a horrendous situation, they will know it is wrong. I would share this book with my 6, 3, & 1 year old children. Thank you
I have 4 boys, 7, 5, 3, 1… It would be for them!
It sounds like an awesome teaching tool. I would love one!

I’ve got kids aged 7, 5, 3, and one coming any day now. We have been teaching them about keeping some of their parts to themselves throughout, but his sounds like just the thing I need to help them really understand!
Definitely a conversation I need to have more seriously with all my kids! Thanks for sharing.
I would give it to my sons, ages 9, 4, and 2.
This is definitely a conversation all parents should have with their children and what a great way to ease into it! I would love to give this to my daughter!
It’s a little difficult to have some of these conversations, I hope this book will make it easier a little more easier for them to understand.
my boys need this!!!
My girls need this!
What a great idea! I would love to have this in our library. In a risqué world, every little bit helps to arm, educate and protect our little ones!
I am a preschool teacher and can not wait to add this book to our library.
This is a conversation we’ve been having with our oldest son. I would love to have a book to reinforce it!
This would be perfect for my kids!!! Love this idea!!!
Would love this for our collection of books!
I would use it for my kids.
I have been praying about how to gently speak about these things to my four littles! This book would be such a blessing to them.
I would give this book to my kids to all share! They are 8, 6,4 & 1 and this is something we’ve been trying to let them know all along!
Would be great for my son
A definite must have for my 3 little girls
I think I would give this book to my niece and nephew right after reading it with my kids!

I am a children’s therapist and mother…so this would be great for my clients and my kiddos!
I would love to win. My daughter will be 2 soon and I would love to start reading this to her.
Would love this book for my boys !
I would give this book to my daughter who is 3.5 and just starting to see that there are differences in boys and girls (she is currently discovering that boys on wear “trunks” when they swim and girls have to wear a shirt AND shorts) it would be a wonderful too!
I would give this book to all of my kiddos!
My friend Laura that is almost 2 weeks overdue with her first baby!
My 5yo boy ,3yo boy, and. 1 yo girl
This book sounds like a CRUCIAL read for all kids.
This book looks awesome! Wish someone had talked to me about it when I was young. Maybe then I would have said something to someone sooner. I started being touched by family members when I was just over 2 years old. I remember it clearly. I talk to my 4 year old son about what is ok often and plan on talking to my daughter starting at 2.
I am so sorry, Sharon. Maybe you could use this book to minister to others.
I happened upon this through pinterest. Without having read this book yet and as a survivor I would like to add some perspective. To prevent sexual abuse you need to understand who commits its, when they commit it and how to empower children when the situation arises. A majority of child sexual abuse is committed by a family member or friend. The younger the child the more likely the offender is a child as well. Please educate yourselves on the signs and more.
Please understand that simply teaching children what is in a book like this is not going to empower them to speak out. Abusers will threaten to kill the child and/or family members or pets. They will convince the child that you will not believe them, that they will be held responsible and blamed, that you will be angry with them, that the child will be causing problems for everyone by telling. They will brainwash the child into believing they like it, they want it and that it isn’t bad. They may even buy gifts for the child.
Darkness to Light is a fabulous resource for educating yourselves and truly beginning the process of protecting your children from becoming victims http://www.d2l.org/site/c.4dICIJOkGcISE/b.6143703/k.2746/The_5_Steps_to_Protecting_Our_Children.htm
This might be the right teaching tool for my daycare parents. I would put this in my Lending Library for the daycare parents to borrow a couple days to read to their children. It can go to parent to parent. This way at least its something we have to help the parents talk with their child about this.
Where can I get this book from ?
Hi Andrea,
Click on the link and it should take you to Amazon. HTH!
Another great book on this subject is
” Yell and Tell” and ” Sara Sue learns to Yell and Tell” by Debi Pearl. They are really good to read to your children.
Thanks, Kelsey, for the suggestion.
A meaningful book, prevention is important.
This is a book every child needs to read!
This would come in very handy for my 5 year old who will be starting Kindergarten this Fall.
I don’t have any little kids but this is awesome! Knowledge = safety. Kids need to be aware
Sounds like a great little book for kids and parents to read. It’s sad that we even need a book like this, but we do.
I would have my granddaughter read this book on those nights she stays with me.
This sounds like a book all parents need to read. I do not have children but will pass this on to my sister for my nephews.
Would love to get this book for my 4 year old daughter!
