I told her I couldn’t take any credit because I was using this all-inclusive elementary language arts curriculum that I just discovered. I wished I would have used it with all my other children.

 

I have used so many different home school programs in the past.

I had the blessing and privilege of homeschooling my children for thirteen years. I probably can safely say I’ve used almost every homeschool English program on the market. I desire a strong phonics and literature approach that is user-friendly and requires little or no prep time for me. I also strongly believe that one must master the Dolch sight words, so some review or drill work is necessary. I also love poetry.

I can honestly say that The Good and the Beautiful all-inclusive elementary Language Arts curriculum meets my high homeschool English standards. The author has a very similar education philosophy as I do. 

Lots of reading and engaging in great literature always makes for a rich discussion. The author encourages the student to orally narrate to the teacher what was read in order to increase his comprehension skills. I strongly believe in this approach as well as the benefits of dictation.

This Christian homeschool curriculum is filled with beautiful illustrations with eye-catching charts that intrigued my daughter. I appreciate how the course doesn’t stress one religious denomination but concentrates on biblical character traits.

The author focuses on high-quality literature and encourages daily independent reading. However, she doesn’t believe in pushing the younger students in long lessons and overwhelming writing assignments. There are worksheets that are short but detailed in occasional lessons.

All the necessities are included in the course set, and most resources are in the course book. This makes it convenient for large families who are teaching multiple levels and simply don’t have extra space. 

I found there was absolutely no prep work for this busy mama. I could close the book at night and jump in where I left off without prepping for the next day.

The price is very much reasonable considering all the subjects that are covered. I would feel comfortable with adding math and reading great literature involving other subjects such history and science for my first grader if I was homeschooling her.

I am so impressed with this homeschool English course that I am planning on using it with my tutor students this summer. I am currently teaching third grade reading in the public school and only wish I could implement this language arts program with my students.  I will continue with the elementary language arts curriculum with my daughter over the summer months. She will be well prepared for second grade in the fall.

I do want to stress that it’s important that your student takes the assessment test in order to determine the correct level before making a purchase. I found it to be a little bit ahead of the public school criteria as far as grade level is concerned. 

I can assure you if I was still homeschooling my babies, all my children would be using The Good and Beautiful Course Set on their individual levels. I give this elementary language arts curriculum two thumbs up.
