I’ve been experimenting lately with using essential oils in my beauty routine.
I don’t like all the chemicals in commercial beauty products. I went back to basics. I typically use coconut oil and some essential oils after my morning cleansing.
I want something with a little more moisture and nourishment for bedtime when my body rests and repairs itself.
My favorite recipe for Bedtime Beauty Oil:
- 1 oz. Sweet Almond Oil (hydrates, brightens, reduces fine lines and wrinkles. Use another oil if you’re allergic to tree nuts!)
- 3 Tsp. Vitamin E Oil (nourishes – antioxidant that protects and repairs your skin)
- 3 Tsp. Castor Oil (moisturizes and stimulates lash growth. reduces puffiness and wrinkles and scars.)
- 5-7 drops Frankincense essential oil
- 3 drops Lemon essential oil
- 3-5 drops Lavender essential oil
- 1 Evening Primrose Oil capsule (hydrates the skin and increases circulation. also reduces inflammation and clears pores.)
Mix the ingredients together. Puncture the Evening Primrose Oil capsule and squirt it in. Store it in a dark glass bottle with a dropper. Apply every night all over your face (especially eyelids!), neck, and décolleté before going to bed. It smells heavenly and nourishes the skin.
Here are some options for other combinations that suit your skin’s needs.
Experiment. Have fun. Smell great!
Take into consideration any nut or wheat (or other) allergies before choosing oils.

[…] Beauty Serum: Great for all skin types and smells amazing. Check out the recipe here. What lady wouldn’t love to find this in her stocking? Great way to get teens into a good […]
I love the formula for this serum! I wipped some up today. In was curious if you had any suggestions, in have very sensitive skin that’s prone to breakouts and rash’s especially in the chin area. Would tea tree oil help rid the breakouts/rash? Or do you have any ideas? I’ve been suffering with it all over my body for close to a year-but the last month or so its deminished to only my face and chest. Any advice would.be greatly appreciated!
I’m so glad you love the recipe! Doesn’t it smell wonderful?
Some help for breakouts…tea tree can help but can often be drying or irritating. My teen uses lemon oil, straight – to dry up her pimples. I’ve also used egg yolk as a facial mask. The vitamin A really helps to clear up skin.
Drink lots of water and avoid chemicals. Often, the commercial body care products make skin appearance worse. Clean up diet to see if that helps. The skin reveals our body’s toxins. Biotin, vitamin E, vitamin B, cod liver oil, evening primrose oil are great supplements to help skin and hair. Do you notice if the breakouts are cyclical with your hormones?
