We are smoothie people. I make smoothies several times a week. I always put frozen veggies and fruit in our smoothies. However, my blender history is less than poor. In fact, I have even burned the motor out in one on it’s first use. In other words, my blender resume is not very impressive.
I wanted to purchase a Vitamix. It did cross my mind numerous times, but my frugality gene got the best of me. Honestly, I was really waiting earnestly for my dh to come to his senses and buy us a Vitamix if we were ever going to have healthy smoothies in this life time again. Needless to say, we were smoothie less for numerous of months.
The positive ending of this post.….My dh surprised me with a Ninja NJ600XL blender for my birthday last year. It is the most efficient blender I have come into contact with….and that has been a gazillion.
It cost a quarter of the cost of a Vitamix. I’m sure a Vitamix can do wonders, but all I want a blender to do is to blend a smoothie without catching the kitchen on fire.
My Ninja crushes ice and all kinds of frozen veggies and fruit. Never once had a problem, except for the first time I used it, but it was operational error.
I love my Ninja NJ600XL blender.
Now go get yourself one!

hey, I just found your blog… really liked the 5 minute post… your household sounds like mine. 🙂 Your DH sounds like mine too and your frugal genes sound like mine!!! hahahaha… the Bible is right when it says that other people are going through the same stuff that we are. We are not alone!! My DH also gave me a super blender… don’t know the name brand, I am really bad at remembering name brand. My super blender also does wonders: smoothies, soups, mayo, crushes ice and more… God is definitely good to you and me!!! 🙂
