I can’t wait to get back in the classroom and have our school day be normal again. Our school is still currently 100% all virtual. Independent reading time is the most important part of our school day. Since it’s extremely important that children read daily, we have independent reading time at the beginning of class.
My fifth-grade class has been completing this reading log each week. It’s perfect for in-class or online learning. They turn it in each Friday. However, I wanted more in-depth questions that cover all of our state standards, so I created these Reading Responses printables.
They cover the following state standards:
- Theme
- Setting
- Author’s Purpose
- Plot Summary
- Text-to-Self, Text-to-world, Text-to-Text
- Author’s Point of View
- Main Character
- Author’s Craft
- Central Idea
- Text Feature
- New Words
- Cause and Effect
- Sequential Order
- Inference
- Compare and Contrast
- Summary
