I needed a new weekly independent reading log that required my students to actually answer open-ended questions instead of simply just logging what book they read and for how long. I couldn’t find exactly what I was looking for so I created my own FREE Weekly Independent Reading Log for my fifth-grade students.

It can be used for almost any grade. If you haven’t taught all of the TEKS or standards, I would briefly teach the concepts that this FREE Weekly Independent Reading Log contains.

Model, Model, Model!

Finally! Here's a weekly reading log that requires the student's to use critical thinking skills. This reading log is lined up with state standards#readinglogsforkidsfree #printablereadinglogforkids #weeklyreadinglogprintablefree #homeschoolreadinglogprintable #freereadinglogprintables #homeschoolfreeprintables

At the beginning of the school year, after I have read a read aloud, I model how to properly complete this reading log and what my expectations are. This is key in order for your students to fully gain the benefits of these reading concepts.
