The 102030Go Family Responsibility Kit will aid your family in faithful prayer, quality reading, and an effective chore system in a matter of days.  I can’t imagine our family going back to our old system.

Here’s how it works!

Family Responsibility Starter Kit includes everything needed to get started for a family with 2 children.  Additional card decks can be added as needed for families with more than 2 children.

Kit includes:

  • Bag to store everything
  • Instruction Booklet
  • 2 X Card decks (Illustrated or Standard) with weekly themes and individual child responsibility tracking form.
  • Chore chart
  • Erasable Prayer Board w/ marker

The first thing we did when we received our family responsiblity kit was to assign the weekly chore list.  My older children have their own chore system that is working well, so I only included my children ages 12, 8, and 6.  I spent one week teaching my children their assigned chores.  I don’t expect perfection, but excellence depending on their age level.

The second task we did was to assign a card to each child.  I decided to only use (1) deck at a time, so each child is working on a different character trait that is marked on the card.  For example, my 8 year old is working on conquering fear.  The children get a new card each Monday morning during our devotional time.  I explain what their verse means, how to apply it and the definition of their particular character trait for the week.

The last thing that we implemented was listing our family prayers to the prayer board.  We write our family prayers on the dry erased board on Monday mornings, and we encourage everyone to add to the list throughout the week.  We also write down a memory verse for us to meditate on during the week.  The board is on our refrigerator in the kitchen.

So are wondering how the family responsibility kit is successful, huh?

Each child is responsible for having their cards initialed or checked off by my husband or myself in (3) areas each day for the following tasks:

  1. 10 minutes of prayer, meditation, Bible reading, and worship time with our Heavenly Father.
  2. 20 minutes of reading of something assigned or leisure to themselves or to a younger sibling.
  3. 30 minutes of chore time or until all their chores are completed in excellence.

I only had to ask for their cards for about 2 days, before they started being diligent about bringing their cards with a pen to me before they were allowed to enjoy their FREE time.  Only once, did I have to say “No!” because their cards were not checked off.

I love this system because it puts the ownership on the child.  I am not the mean one anymore.  Of course, at times I offer grace due to the circumstance, but generally this system is set in stone.

I have to admit, I did require my children to do all (3) of these responsibilities, but often I did not hold them accountable and I ended up getting frustrated if their chores were not complete before going to bed.

I give 102030Go a thumbs up for sharing their successful program with others!  It’s a true blessing in our home.
