Teachable Timeline 1904
If we threw a birthday party for Dr. Seuss, who do you think we should invite? March 2, 1904, is the birthday of Theodor Seuss Geisel. This week’s Teachable Timeline is going to take a closer look at what was going on around the world in 1904, the year Dr. Seuss was born in the town of Springfield, Massachusetts.
Let’s start by making a guest list for Dr. Seuss’s birthday party. Who do you think we should invite? Who do you think wouldn’t want to come?
We’ll need games for our guests to enjoy. How about the Red Fish, Blue Fish matching game?
We’re going to need some placemats to show everyone where to sit. These ones are in honor of If I Ran the Circus. Be sure to write each person’s name on his or her placemat.
How about decorations? We could make these pictures of Horton and hang them on the walls. You could draw the pictures in this Dr. Seuss Draw & Write printable (you’ll find the drawing activities at the end of the Writing Exercises Combo download).
We’re going to need food, too! How about some Cat In the Hat push pops? Or try any one of these tasty Dr. Seuess-themed foods.
