We are game people around here! Playing cards are so FUN and are convenient to travel with. They also take up little space in the game closet.
However, I can’t tell you how many times, I have bought Uno is the last 15 years. We are always losing cards because of those flimsy cheap boxes they come in.
In all honesty, I would rather pay more money for the game with a sturdier box, but they didn’t ask me.
As silly as this may sound, I decided to go to the dollar store and buy $10.00 worth of travel soap boxes and a white paint marker to organize all of our playing cards.
I just labeled the box with the name of the game and put the cards in them.
This is especially helpful for those dollar store playing cards such as War, Goldfish, and Crazy Eights! I even had a genius thought to buy those playing card games and include a box as birthday presents.
Some of our Favorite Play Card Games
- Uno – we have several different themes
- Skip Bo
- Spoons – this is my little ones favorite
- Phase 10 – my favorite
- Blink – great game even for little ones
- 5 Crowns – super FUN game for older kids
And of course, just regular games that require playing cards are favorites, too!
What are your favorite play card games that your family enjoys?
Very cool tip! When the card game boxes get worn out I usually just toss them in a ziploc but I love this idea – definitely see a trip to the dollar store in the future!
Yes, I used to do the baggie trick, too! But now I immediatly put them in the box when they are brand new.
Great idea!
This looks much nicer than our pile of baggies and cards. Very creative!
We have Apples to Apples and the box is falling apart, so I need a good solution for that one.
