Last night was the first night the chickens were here at our new house.
Unwanted guests were discovered.
The older boys went out to put up the chickens in the hen houses and were greeted by some furry friends. Only small eyes glowed in the moonlight before they quickly scattered off.
Today the 4 younger investigators and I checked out the evidence. We discovered numerous holes on the property and paw prints in the mud. Recently, it just rained, so the ground was soft making a distinct paw print under the car port.
We investigated the paw prints with our book, Track, Scats, and Signs. After carefully studying the book, we made an educated discovery……Skunks, Skunks, and Skunks which was my speculation all along.
Next, we learned some facts about skunks. We won’t mentioned the horrifying fact that skunks breeding season takes place in February thru April. ” Today is February 1st, my son declares!”
Mommy is highly allergic to skunks! And the smell makes her sick! LOL!
We will see if our moth ball remedy is true.
Any suggestions?
Far better to find a footprint for identification than a surprise perfume gift!! Let me know if the mothballs work. 🙂
