We are celebrating Advent this year with a Jesse Tree. It is our first year doing this and we are exciting to start this tradition with our family!
I love Ann Voskamp’s writings. The Greatest Gift series would be an excellent addition to my library!
We have our elf and do Truth in Tinsel. But, my girls are getting a little older so it’s time for something more.
Advent is a fairly new tradition in our home so we’re still growing our list. This year we have added Adorements to our list.
We are doing a tree this year decorated with only handmade ornaments and decorations. Christmas Eve is spent with our family driving around looking at lights and coming home to cocoa and cookies. Christmas morning is all about the Greatest Story and family.
Celebrate with a tree and a birthday cake for Jesus.
I’ve never celebrated advent before and my children have recently begun to ask questions so we are learning about it this year together.
We have always celebrated Christ’s birth at Christmas, but doing an “advent” tradition is new to us.
Advent is new to our family too. Thank you!
Love this giveaway!!
I love love Ann Voskamp’s writings… Would be beyond thrilled to win these. I can provide a US address even though I live internationally right now….in the event that I would win…
Thank you for the giveaway! It would be great for our family!
We have a special advent calendar that my mother-in-law sewed when her kids were young.
Thank you for the giveaway.
We alternate between the Jesse Tree and the names of Christ study. The kids enjoyed the Jesse Tree so much they requested it again this year.
My little peanut might be too young to fully understand the Jesse Tree tradition just yet, but my husband and I are looking forward to building our own advent family traditions this year and in years to come. Thanks for introducing us to this series!
I LOVE her writing Sooooooooooooooooooooo much. Straight to the heart.
Was recently introduced to this author and have been impressed. Would love to win this!
We just started new traditions this year with an Advent calendar and a countdown calendar from Dayspring. Love Ann Voskamp’s writings!
We have not really done much in the way of Advent, did a little from the “What’s in the Bible” stuff a couple of years ago. Having 2 sons, both with Aspergers, & becoming a {divorced in 2012} single mom after my marriage fell apart in 2009…holidays are hard. I struggle with keeping the joy of the season, especially as I try {alone} to impart it to my sons. We are going to try Ann’s book this year {getting the eBook, I have already decided} & would love to win the hardcover, to keep out on the coffee-table…for my one son who loves the tradition hard copy book style!
Would love to do a Jesse tree this year. Advent has always been special at our home.
Love this! Always looking for ways to bring home the reason for the season to my kids.
We’ve been doing a Jesse Tree. The kids love it!
As Orthodox Christians we prepare ourselves with a 40 day fasting period prior to The Lords Nativity. We attempt to fast from certain food items, the wrong words that may come from our mouths, the evil thoughts and attempt to increase our prayer life.
We have lego advent calendars for the kids to open every day.
Our kids are just getting old enough to understand Advent! This year we have an ornament each day to coordinate with a devotional! I would love to win this though as I have heard great things about The Greatest Gift!!
We do a Jesse tree every year. Love it!
We have been wanting to do advent but haven’t settled on how yet. I have heard great things about the Jesse tree though!
I would love to have this. I celebrate advent I my classroom.
We make a Jesse Tree every year.
We love our advent wreath and candles and we also do a calender – both traditions are favorites from our own childhood that we are passing on to our children. I am adding a Jesse Tree and a blessing paper chain this year to our traditions.
