The aged women likewise, that they be in behavior as becomes holiness, not false accusers, not given to much wine, teachers of good things; That they may teach the young women to be sober, to love their husbands, to love their children, To be discreet, chaste, keepers at home, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God be not blasphemed. –
Titus 2:3-5
Characteristics of a Godly Woman
- Sober-minded – physically and mentally
- To act in love towards their husbands and children
- Discreet and lack of gossip
- Chaste – in behavior and dress
- Keepers at home -our main priority should be the home
- Being good – doing what’s right even when it is uncomfortable, unpopular, and inconvenient
- Obedient to their own husbands
Biblical femininity is unpopular and most would argue politically incorrect. The world tells us we can have it all from a tangible standpoint. The nice house, husband, children, luxury car, vacation, and career.
And there is nothing wrong with those things if you don’t sacrifice what God expects from you spelled out in Titus 2: 3-5.
We all have choices to make and sometimes it’s SUPER hard!
As Christians, we know it’s our duty to follow not the world, but the Word of God.
This is by far one of my favorite books that teaches true to God’s Word! It’s a must read and would make any excellent mother/daughter bible study.
I often struggle, but by His mercy alone, I can start fresh each day that I beg for forgiveness.
In what areas do you struggle the most as a homemaker whether you work in or out of the home?
Great post. Found you on Inspire Me Monday. Please check out my blog if you have time.

Beautiful image and wonderful characteristics we should all aspire too – although often easier said then done!
Bree, I agree, easier said than done! But we have the Holy Spirit to guide us.
What a wonderful post and image. Those little birds are darling:))
Thank you for keeping the biblical model of womanhood ever before us.
Have a fantastic day…
I have been going through your pages, you have some great stuff and wisdom! Thanks for the reminder, I am working towards this every day!
this is a hard list indeed. So glad that He does not require us to whip up these things out of our own hearts, but gives them to us by faith, through Christ’s righteousness. If it was all up to me, forget it!
I use to be a homemaker but then my ungodly husband cheated on me so now I work. BUT even though I do work (because I have to support myself and my three children) I will not and do not lose myself to worldly things. NOR am I bitter towards men. I am far from femininity and I am proud to be a HAPPY single mother of three and woman of GOD, AMEN!
Kelley,
I admire you so much. This is the plan God has for you right now. Continue serving the Lord, my sister!
